Frequently Asked Questions

1- Q: What do we buy back?

A: We buy textbooks (books in use by BYU or UVU or other universities), academic books, LDS books, and popular title books.

2- Q: Will you buy back books that BYU or UVU doesn’t buy back?

A: There are many books we will buy back that BYU or UVU won’t take back.

3- Q: If I need a book this semester can you provide it for me?

A: We are working hard to get an extensive inventory for BYU classes. If you bring in your schedule ahead of time we can find the books you need.

4- Q: Do you recycle unwanted books?

A: Yes. Everyone is welcome to drop off unwanted books to be recycled.

5- Q: I have seen stores that aren’t bookstores advertising they pay “cash for books”, what is that all about?

A: If you see shops (that normally don’t sell books) that all of the sudden advertise to buy your books, realize that they work for another business and get a hefty commission. As we don’t have commissions to pay out and sell UVU and BYU textbooks in our own store, we pass the savings on to you.

6- Q: When do you buy back books?

A: We buy back books every day. We’re a full-time bookstore so we’re constantly buying and selling books.

7- Q: Do you pay more for books than the campus bookstore?

A: It depends on the book, as all books have different situations. Boomerang has a completely different business model than the campus bookstore. We pay a base wholesale price AND a certain percentage above that.

8- Q: Are you “cheaper” than the campus bookstore?

A: Everything in our store is lower priced than the campus bookstore.

9: Q: Do you sell i-clickers, My mathlabs, and access codes?

A: We do sell i-clickers, My mathlabs, and some access codes. Those add-ons are just another way for the campus bookstores and publishers to make more money and are often sold in bundles. We sell them separately and in lower priced bundles at our store to give students a choice and a discount.
